HAIR CARE TIPS
Here are the 10 most important hair care tips that everybody should know.
- Only brush your hair when it’s dry. Hair is most delicate when it’s wet, so brushing in the shower (or right afterwards) can lead to breakage.
- Don’t over-wash your hair. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to shampoo your hair daily - doing so can actually make your hair dry and hard to work with.
- If you use a blow dryer, always keep it at least 6 inches from your scalp to keep from heat damaging your hair.
- Don’t rub your towel into your scalp after you shower. Instead, just blot your hair with the towel, and then smooth the towel gently along the length of your hair.
- To boost the shine in your hair, blast it with some cool air before you start your day. The cold air will seal the cuticle and give your hair more lustre.
- To cut down on static electricity, dampen your hairbrush before you start brushing.
- To maintain a soft and silky shine, do a “deep conditioning” on your hair once a week (where you leave the conditioner in for at least 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly).
- Always use a wide-tooth comb to detangle long hair before you start brushing - this saves your hair from a lot of unnecessary damage.
- Wait at least 48 hours after coloring hair to shampoo it. Every time you wet your hair, you open the cuticle - so give your hair enough time to seal in the color.
- The healthier your diet is, the healthier your hair will be. So take good care of your body, and your hair will show the difference.
